Cladonia

Cladonia is a project that uses ceramics and textiles to highlight the minor, often overlooked parts of nature that are being affected by climate change. It’s inspired by lichen—a tiny organism that grows in harsh places and shows how delicate ecosystems are being damaged by human activity.

Through sculptures that combine rusty ceramic bases (symbolising decay and nature reclaiming space) with soft textile forms that grow from them (like lichen pushing through), Cladonia explores how nature responds to the pressures of urban life.

The project invites people to look more closely at the world around them, to notice the hidden signs of environmental change, and to think differently about how we live with the natural world.
